Joe attended Sylvania Southview High School where he was actively involved with the theater department.  He performed in over 15 productions during his four years. In the beginning of Joe's senior year, he was selected by the students and faculty to direct an original musical, “SupeReview 2002”, with a cast size of over 100 students.  Joe was rewarded the “Director’s Choice” award at the end of his high school career, an honor given to only one student each year.

After high school, Joe attended Columbia College Chicago as a theater major in the fall of 2002.  He enjoyed the theater scene, but after just 3 semesters, Joe decided to change his major from theater to film/directing.  It was then that Joe founded Elantra Films, L.L.C - an independent film production company in which he produced and self-released several of his short films under.  Joe graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Film & a Minor in Theater/Acting in 2006.

In 2007, Joe was accepted into the American Film Institute Conservatory. He graduated in 2009 with a MFA in Directing. Joe is currently represented by Sheryl Petersen & Debbie Deuble at APA.
